Objective
Developing ball retention: Passing, Receiving and losing your marker.
Description
In a square area of 12 by 12 yards we play 2v2.
Each side has 2 side players who can move up and down their line, but are not allowed to enter the square. This creates a 4v2 numerical advantage.
The aim is to maintain possession utilising all 4 players in the team, all of whom are limited to 2 touches.
The aim of the game is to reach 10 passes within your team without the opposition intercepting the ball.
The players use the 4v2 numerical advantage while in possession.
Every 2 minutes the sides are changed, also rotating the side players.
Coaching Points
1- All players should open up their body to shape themselves in the direction of their first touch and pass to a teammate.
2- Angle of support - provide support with at least 2 viable passing options.
3- Speed up play: Reduce the time taken between the first touch and the pass.

Learning Objectives
To improve moves/feints and the accurancy of passing on the move.
Description
Use an area of 30 yards in length. Each player dribbles the ball to get past the player in the box using feints and various moves specified by the coach.
Once past the defender and before reaching the line the player shoots into the mini goal.
Coaching Points
1- Perform the drill with various players to maitain pace and intensity.
2- Have the players set off at the same time, so that they can compete, the first one to score gains a point.
3- The attacking player needs to keep the ball close to their feet using feints and quick changes of direction to get past the defender and score.
4- Again, change the defenders so that everyone gets to participate.

Learning Objectives
To develop passing, receiving and creating space (unmarking)
Description
In a square of 10 yards we play in groups of 5.
There are 2 variations.
First variation
Players pass straight and should follow the direction to replace the position of the receiver.
The receiving player must first create space (using the cone as a defender) by checking away before receiving the pass.
The same sequence continues until the coach instructs to switch the direction.
Second variation
Players pass diagonal and run straight.
Coaching Points
1- Improve the speed of play by limiting to 1 touch when it is possible.
2- Players should time their movement well when creating space. It must be made while the pass is traveling between the previous 2 players.
3- When creating space, the player should check away with an open body shape before moving to receive the pass.
4- The correct body shape should be monitored (opening up) and receiving the ball with back foot ( foot furthest away from the ball.
Progression
1- Add an extra ball with 6 players for each group. This way there will be 2 balls at the same time increasing the speed of play and difficulty.
2- Coach will call SWITCH, players have to respond quickly changing the playing direction.

Learning Objectives
On a 30 by 20 yards two teams of four play against each other, with two neutral players outside the the pitch as all time attackers. A point is awarded for every pass played into a target player on the end line. When you score at one end, you then attack the other.
Coaching points
Body position should be side on to the player with the ball.
Look before you receive the ball, have a target picked out first.
Look for splits of the defenders with first touch.
Bend your run when coming to support neutral player on end line.

Ball Manipulation & Control (30 mins)
Learning Objectives
Mastery of the ball is the very heart of the game. The skill to make the ball do what we want it to do, to be able to place it exactly where you want it to go, to be comfortable with it in our possession, these are the foundations of the game and the basic building blocks for future successful players.
Players work in 2 groups, dribbling the ball towards the end line, making as many touches as possible on the ball.
- To improve mastery of feints.
- Timing of feints
- Body shape/desguise.
- Over ball for balance, low/quick step to side.
- Part of foot used - inside/outside/sole.
- Perform turns, such as Inside & outside, drag back, Cruyff, Maradona`s, etc...
