Ball Mastery

Ball Mastery 

One ball per player performing various ball mastery and dribbling techniques.

- Inside Touches

Competition 

2-3 Players selected as a Defender without a ball everyone tries to maintain possession of their ball if they lose their ball they must go and work to regain possession from a different player they lost it too. ) 2 groups if more than 12 players.

Organization:

6v3 ( Number dependent more or less)

Instructions:

Possessing team to complete as many passes as possible, every 5/6/7 (coaches choice) passes one more defender enters the practice.

Defending team, Blue's above are to win the ball and secure possession by finding a pass to one of the blue players on the outside or too dribble outside the box. Once pass has been found the blues come into the square and posses while all reds have to exit the square ( quick reactions ) once all have exited the square 2/3 (depending on quality of players) can re enter and the practice begins.

Coaching Points:

Transition once ball is lost - Stop them passing or dribbling out of the square to restart the practice

Recognising what is happening around the ball if your far away from the play, what can you do to stop the transition moment.

Add goals for players to score in or play to team mate ( do defenders in transtion ( attack > defence )protect the pass/change of possesion or protect the goal)

Attacking third - 4v4 (40 mins)

Transitional game where the attacking team has to beat the defensive block of 4 players and score a goal. if the defending team will win the ball, their task is to get the ball into the middle channel where they are safe to transition to attacking half. Each team counts their goals and the team scoring 8 goals first will win.

Coaching points, 


Rest defense for when we lose the ball can we stop opposition reaching the middle zone.

Counter pressing ( lost it in attacking half then win it back ) goal = 3 goals.
