Dribbling with Demands5 mins

After team dynamic stretching/warm up

Dribbling with Demands (10 minutes)

- all players in 18 yard box with a ball. Instruct players to 'dribble' the ball around while staying within the lines

 - Dribbling should be completed using the laces or top of the feet.

- Introduce demands one at a time;

 - cut: using outside part of foot (pinky toe) to change directions quickly and sharply.

 - pull back: use bottom of foot ontop of ball to stop, roll, and turn to change directions.

 - toe taps: ball is stopped and both feet are in hopping motion to 'tap' the ball. Little to no ball movement here.

 - roll: use bottom of feet to 'roll' the ball. Rolling motion should be towards body. If going left, using right foot and vise           versa.

- Call out all demands one at a time once all have been introduced one by one.

- Encourage head up, and to dribble into space. When look up, look for space and dribble into it. The less collisions with teammates, the better.

Passing Technique15 mins

Passing Technique with Movement (15 minutes)

Set Up:

- Players into two groups, equally spread between the two cones. No more than 3 waiting behind the cone.

How:

- players to work on their passing technique with some movement.

- Passing two touch: first touch to set player up while keeping ball moving, first touch comes from inside of foot, second touch is a pass using the inside of the locked foot.

- Player waiting to get pass should call teammate name and be in ready position.

Coach Tips:

- Enforce the ball should always stay rolling, the first touch on the ball should not be a dead stop on the ball.

- Players should stand ahead of cone when it is their turn.

- Ready positions and calling names!

Progressions:

- one touch, controlled.

Pass and Move Circle25 mins

Pass and move (15 minutes)

Set up:

- Half of the players make a circle with no balls.

- The other half have a ball inside the circle.

How:

- The outside players remain in their ready position; on toes, looking for a ball.

- Inside players are to dribble the ball and find an available outside player.

- Inside player to pass ball to outside (outside will take a touch and pass back.

- Upon receiving the ball back, inside player will take a touch to control, then 'pull back' the ball, get their head up and look for another outside player to repeat.

- *** If players are pulling the ball back properly, their passes should not be going in a circle, they should move across the circle.

- After about 2 minutes, switch.

Coach Tips:

- Enforce players to keep their head up, no collisions.

- Enforce pull back, rolls, and cuts from opening drill.

- Outside players MUST remain on their toes.

- Can make it into a game; give 60 seconds for players to see how many passes they can get.

Progressions:

1.

- Once both halves got a chance in the middle, switch again but this time outsides get the ball.

- Inside players have to move quickly to get in as many passes to the outsides as possible using proper technique.

2.

- Insides start with ball again, this time, everytime they pass to an outside player, they switch spots. Outsides will take the ball in and repeat motion.
