Trio Passing Challange (20 mins)
Method:
Setup two goals in areas next to one another with players in groups of three.
Organise three poles to make a diamond shape with the goals.
Players must pass and follow with them eventually finishing with a shot into the goal.
After each pass, they follow and take the place of the person that they have passed to.
The player that shoots then returns to the start. Alternate sides so that players get a turn on both their right and left side.
Progress the practice to build in different ways of the players passing and receiving between them.
Coaching Points:
- Body Shape - Players should look to adjust their body shape to receive to be able to play the way they want to. With an open body shape, it will help players to be able to play with their heads up to help them to be able to play quicklyand pass into the player they want to play to next.
- First Touch - As players receives the ball, they should look to receive the ball and take the ball around the pole. Players should look to move the ball out of their feet to help them to receive and prepare to play their pass into the next player.
- Quality Of Pass - Encourage players to play into the players back foot. Players should look to play the ball into space and along the ground to help their team mates to be able to receive and prepare for their next pass.
- Speed Of Play - Players should be encouraged to try and play quickly by passing and receiving with speed. Encourage players to pass accurately but also with speed
