3v3 Wave With Transition (15 mins)
Organisation : 3v3 Attacking Wave With Transition To Defend
The objective is for our three attackers to attack the 3 defenders quickly. Movement of players off the ball is important to move opposition defenders, player on the ball needs to attack with pace, not allowing the opposition defender time to react/make a decision. Keepers rotate after every wave. Keeper and 3 defenders to communicate and really focus on not conceding.
Rules Of Play:
- If the team in possession score they can restart another attack, if they react quickly they can catch the new defenders as they have to run in and defender from waiting outside grid (The team outside grid were waiting to attack but because the team in possession successfully scored they lose there turn to attack and must now defend)
- If team in possession don't score they become the next 3 defenders, 3 players who were defending now leave the grid and get ready to become the next attackers
- If the defenders win possession, they can break out to score in either of the two mini- goals, by including the GK they can create a 4v3 overload & because they scored they now attack the goals with keeper in it and again team waiting for there turn to attack misses out and have to defend (Reactive)
Coaching Points:
1. Quick turn to trigger the attack
2. Off the ball movement to get in behind the opposition defence (Inside/Outside runs)
3. Accurate and varied crosses into the box to find attacking players
- Across the face then Low and hard into area of vulnerability
- Get near end line then pullback
- If deeper then high to back post
4. Passing quality
5. Communication to be organised and to be ready for next phase of play
Opposition Roles:
1. Can we try get forward pass/shot into mini goals
2. If that's not an option can we be composed on the ball and wait for support and look to find a teammate
3. Can we use the GK as a pivot and use to our advantage for a 4v3 overload
Notes:
Attacking:
Never stand on the ball, can we engage a player at pace and create an overload
Passing weight needs to be perfect
Triggers for players off the ball need to be perfect as crossers will know where to put the ball
Be ruthless in-front of goal
Defending:
Communication of GK + Defenders is vital to not let them break through
Assess there touch, if they take a bad touch can we get a tackle in
We need to move realistically and make sure someone is always pressing with other 2 making it compact behind
Player Questions:
1. What type of through ball options does the midfielder have when playing through?2. How can you improve your movement in behind to lose your defensive marker?
3. Where are the spaces to deliver into and where are your teammates making their runs?
4. What is the area we are looking to hit at A/B/C area?
5. Can you move the opposition player with a run off the ball?
