- Warm-Up (Part 2 : Neuroprep - Technical andinitial conatct
Organization:
1. Divide into 3 equal groups
2. 5 players on the outside form a circle around 1 defender in the middle by the stationary ball placed on a cone
3. 2 balls for players on the outside
Activity:
1. Player 1 with ball plays a pass into the middle trying to knock the ball off the cone
2. Defender in the middle needs to stop the ball from being knocked off the cone and play a pass to an attacker who doesn't have a ball
3. As soon as the defender passes the ball to a new attacker, Player 2 with a ball now plays a pass into the middle to try and knock the ball off the cone; repeat step 2 for the defender
4. Continue to play until ball is knocked off cone; rotate defender in the middle
Key Defending Coaching points:
1. Staggered stance with toes at a 45 degree angle.
2. Bent knees with weight on the balls of the feet.
3. Chest leaning over the toes.
4. Low center of gravity for greater explosion/quick change of direction (upright takes longer to start).
5. Ability to shuffle quickly

Organization:
1. Full gym, 2 nets at each end with a goalie
2. 3 attackers (Blue) and 2 defenders (Red), 1 goalies on each side
3. Balls located inside goalie nets
Activity:
1. Attacking players start by cone
2. First attacker receives a pass from the goalie and attempts to beat the defender and score a goal
3. No rebounds
4. On the attackers first touch the defender becomes active and initiates 1 v 1 defending
5. Defender will try to use defending principles to stop the attacker from scoring; play is over if defender wins the ball or attacker shoots or scores
6. After each attempt, the defender moves to their right and becomes an attacker and the attacker now becomes a defender
Progression:
1. When defender wins the ball can they look to dribble to the space between the 2 yellow cones
Key Defending Principles:
1. Eyes on the ball
2. Speed/Angle of approach (close down)
3. Delay the forward progress (slow down)
4. Balance & Patience (jockey/sit down) - get low, knees bent & wait for poor first touch
