Ball Mastery (10 mins)

Organization: 2 players 1 ball.

Instructions:

  • 20 second challenges, after 20 seconds they switch. Who can do the most touches....
  • Challenges: boxes, rolls on the ball, pull-push, inside roll, outside roll, v-moves, l-moves, scissors, double scissors, triangles touches.

Coaching Points:

  • Move on the toes, quick touches on the ball, work with different part of the foot, try to do skills with looking up

Stage 2 Technical passing/receiving (20 mins)

Organization: Y shape cones are 6y apart from each other.

Instructions:

  • Players complete the passing sequence. Last player dribble back in to the line but make sure to do a skill in between.
  • 2 touches everywhere.

Coaching Points:

  • Showing for the pass (away from the defender/cone), first touch close by, use of both feet (receive 1 foot, pass the other), movement after the pass.

Progressions:

  • add 1 touches at certain spots.
  • 1 touches all around.

Stage 3: 2v1 (15 mins)

Organization: 20x25y, 1 big goal, 1 small goal.

Instructions:

  • Defender passes to attacker and pressures the ball, attacker passes to other attacker and joins to make it 2v1.
  • Attacker try to score on the big goal, if defender win the ball they can score on the small goal.

Coaching Points:

  • First touch under control (close), Quick movement of the ball, speed on the pass, first touch to the goal, choose corners when shooting.

Progressions:

  • 3v2

3v3/4v4 1 Big, 1 small goal (25 mins)

Organization: Field is 20 (wide), 30 (long). 1 big goal and 1 small goal.

Instructions:

  • 1 team defending the big goal, 1 team defending the small goal.

  • If the ball goes out of bounds, they can start with a dribble or a pass.

Coaching Points:

  • Individual in possession: open up (get away from defender), open body shape (see the field), quick decision making (pass or dribble).

  • Individual defending: Mark 1v1, desire to pressure, watch the ball.
  • Team attacking: Make the field big, switch the field.

  • Team defending: Make the field small, pressure on the ball, small spaces between each other.
