What: Fundamental GK Specific Exercises For Preseason
Why: To Improve The GK/#1 To Be position in time, Improving Handling/Footwork within High Balls/Crosses and Communication with the backline.
OBJECTIVE: Improve the GK ability to deal with different flank service focusing on the technical aspect. The session will include handling and footwork as well.

Duration (10 Minutes): Sets of 2 MIN each x 4. 0:30 seconds break for coaching points & recovery
INSTRUCTIONS: Player who loses the ball or plays a bad pass, goes into the middle. Coach must feed balls quickly and accurstly and transition quick to next posession cycle. Count how many times you go in the middle.

VARIATIONS: We can use a multiple variations of Rondo to encourage desicion making in possession, speed of techniqe, ball familiarity as well as passing and recieving.

TRAINING OBJECTIVE: Improve Goalkeepers handling techniques, footwork and ability to play with feet. (Contour, Basket, Smother & Side Contour Technique).
Intensity: Low- Medium
Exercise Objective: Improve Goalkeepers lateral and vertical movement incorporating various handling techniques to improve muscle memory and bio mechanics.
Instructions: Goalkeeper starts from either the front, back or side of the box. Gk then uses proper footwork and a quick 1st step to deal with strike from server.
A. Forward - Start in set position step forward maintain correct hand placement and load set position
B. Backwards - Nose in front of toes. Shoulders slightly bent forward. Maintain balance
C. Sideways - 1.Use drop set then shuffle 2.Use drop step then cross step
Progression of service/ handling technique
1. Half Volley/Contour
2. Full Volley/Contour
3. Driven off ground/Contour, basket or side contour
4. Low driven ball/Smother or scoop
5. Low Ball Corners
Important TIP: The positioning of the striker will change every shot, the GK must be in the correct position relative to the ball being abke to cover the near post, far post and top crossbar.

Exercise Objective: Teach the GK 3 different how to intercept cross by putting he/she through variou types of service, which requires different startpoints and footwork to get to the ball.
1. Near Attack With Foot Closest To Ball

COACHING POINT:
1. Recognition - When and where the ball will end up by practiciting enough service to improve ball preception.

4. Catch 1st, Punch If Ball Is A Tough Service To Handle
5. Understand that when a GK makes a decision to come off the line and attack the ball it depends on two things. 1. Path to the ball 2. Flight Of The Ball.
A. Volley and then sideways through and up for a high ball
B. Single steps through and volley from S and then gets body shape open to deal with a tosed ball into box use crossover step to make save
C. GK on angle for serve from S and then sideways through with hips shoulders to server and then a ball is tossed in air or bounced ball cannot hit ground second time if bounced

INSTRUCTIONS: GK deals with cross from S in crowded area. GK drops then must deal with a live shot from opposite side of service. Red players are a distraction as well as follow rebounds during live shot scenario.
Round 1: GK handles flank service followed by shot from S2
Round 2: GK handles service then immedietly sling throw to one of the goals
Round 3: GK deal with shot from S3 then deals with a tow goal situation from endline
