Set Up: Two 12x12 squares. Navy team in one and red in the other. Coach on the outside who alternates which team they play the ball to. In this example navy starts with ball and one red goes into the navy teams square to try to win the ball back. If red wins the ball they must quickly try to dribble or pass into their square and then join their team-mates. A navy defender then goes to defend in the red square. A point is scored for every 5 passes made. A point is also scored if the defenders win the ball and successfully dribble or pass it into their square
Session Aims: To create a high tempo environment which challenges passing and receiving habits
Coaching Points
:: First touch out in front of you and not under your feet
:: Weight of Pass
:: Accuracy of Pass
:: Movement off the ball to find space to receive the ball
:: Move the ball quickly so that the defender can't close down
Progressions:
:: When the team in possession make 5 passes the defending team adds a second defender. After another 5 they can add a 3rd defender.

Warm Up Game (15 mins)
Set Up: 3v3-6v6. 24x36 with GKs optional
Conditions: Allow the players to lead this warm up game - no stopping for coaching, just get them organized and let them take ownership of rules, teams etc
Session Aims: To give players 10-15 minutes of free play which emulates playground soccer games. Coaches should clearly explain what the theme for the night is so that players can start to experiment and discover what works even within this initial warm up game.
