Tactical (10 mins)

Aim is to pass the ball through the centre of the pitch.

The blues have to win the ball back in an overload. Transfer the ball to win. 

The yellow player will be a floater/ magic man to create with the overload.

Work with both teams to see if they can defend in the overload.

Key points:

  • Close down the gaps.
  • Make play predictable.
  • Get out quickly, then slow down.

Progressions:

  • Add pass restriction
  • The middle players can intercept the ball
  • Add two defenders in.

Skill Game (20 mins)

The blues will start with an unopposed shot at goal. Then the reds will dribble in a pair (seen in picture 2). Then the blues will bring an extra two blue players on after the ball has gone out of play or scored, creating a 2v3 overload.

Where we a focusing on defending out numbered. Whoever has the ball has two extra players with them. The yellow players are floaters. They play for the team that has possession.

The game will be coached when the coach sees something.
