Organizational / Instructions
- Set up the 2 groups (Support Group with an extra player)
- Have the 3 or 4 players set up in the cones using 1 touch passing (2 touch for support if need be)
- When the coach shouts switch each group will break and switch the ball to their team mate on the otherside.
- The Blue Group (Support) will dribble out the box into midfield and make a pass along the ground to the winger to creat the switch then the winger will dribble into the box and pass it to the striker or supporting winger for a chance at goal.
- The Green Group (Extension) will instead switch the ball straight away with a lofted pass for the winger to take a touch and cross it into the box for their team mate.
- Both defenders on each side will be passive to start.
Coaching Points
- Scan and look for team mate who is available for the switch
- Open up your body to prepare yourself to turn and switch the ball
- Blue team be ready to turn quickly to dribble out the box and at speed play it to the winger for the switch
- Speed is the key because if a switch is done quickly it will catch out the opponents.
- Support is vital as a switch without any support leaves the recieving player isolated.
Progressions / Adaptations
SUPPORT - Take an extra touch if need be, use the dribbling midfeilder as extra support when the ball goes into the box
EXTENSION - Every player use 1 touch except the winger who has 2 to set up and then cross.
