Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Pelham SC: Pirates (Start Time: 2017-10-30 10:15:00)

Warm Up (15 mins)

Organization:

1. 3 groups of 4 players plus 1 GK.

2. 20 x 15 Area Size.

3. Players are given a number each.

Instructions:

1. Players dribble like Xavi and Messi in the box until their number is called when they have to dribble out and strike at goal.

Coaching Points:

1. All of the above.

2. Observation of GK and target to choose striking surface.

Conditioned Game (25 mins)

Organization:

1.Half Field set up as shown

2.12 players (1 Goalkeeper, 3 Defenders, 8 Attackers) set up as shown

3.Additional balls in central area

Instructions:

1.Attacking central midfield player starts the activity from the middle of the field by passing the ball out to either wide attacker

2.On the wide attackers first touch the defending players becomes active

3.The attacking player must attempt to beat the outside defending player before shooting or crossing

4.The wide attacking player has one central attacking player as a target if they choose to cross

5.If any defending player wins the ball they attempt to pass the ball through the counter goals

6.The activity is restarted by the central midfielder with a new wide attacking player

7.Rotate players after a set time limit to ensure all players have equal opportunities to attack from wide areas

Coaching Points:

1.Commit defender by driving inside

2.Execution of fakes or feints – inside (shot) or outside (cross)

3.Play at speed

4.Ensure a final action – shot or cross

Progressions:

P – Allow opposite outside wide player to come into the penalty area as a second target player for a cross

R – Allow attacking wide player the opportunity to combine with central players for a 2v1
