Aim: To introduce the participants to two fundamentals of parkour: balance and quadrupedal running.
Objectives:
1. Introduce the participants to parkour safely.
2. Utilise games to increase participation and enjoyment.
3. Ask the participants open questions to figure out what they enjoyed.
Equipment: Set of cones, session plan, whistle
Venue: Lourdes Primary School
Population Group: Chilldren (Primary 5, 6 & 7), mixed ability

Organizational / Instructions
Count Your Moves:
All participants have to count how many ways they can move around in the area. 30s by themselves, then split into groups by calling out numbers. E.g. if 20 participants, call out 4 to get 5 groups of 4, etc.
Introduce the idea of using their hands to move if no one did it. Praise participants that did.

Organizational / Instructions
Animal Races:
From the groups before, e.g. 5 groups of 4, set them up at coloured cones for each team.
Start at the cones, animal run to midway line and back.
Scuttle like a Crab - with a cone on their belly, to the line and back. If cone is dropped, go back to the start.
Charge like a Bear - use hands and feet to run to the line and back.
Waddle like a Duck - place the cone on top of their head, bum close to the ground. If cone is dropped, go back to the start.
Crawl like a Caterpillar - put hands out in front of them like a plank and walk their feet to their hands, repeat.

Stick It Competitions:
Get the participants into a large circle.
Coach will demonstrate 3-4 different balances that they will copy. When they hear stick it, they hop into the pose and hold it for as long as possible. Last one standing is the winner.

Organizational / Instructions
Splat:
Everyone in a big circle. The person in the middle is the sqoosher. If you get sqooshed, you duck where the people on your left and right then turn to each other and say splat. Last person to say splat sits in a basket. The participant that got sqooshed stands up and continues the game.
Last two people then do a dead man's draw. Backs to each other, take a step forward when the sqoosher says a colour, splat when an animal is said.

Ask the participants open questions about what they have learned.

Line Tig:
1-3 tiggers (blue), all players can only run on the lines, if caught or run off a line must do a forfeit.
Forfeit lasts 10 seconds/10 of the exercise.
Change the tiggers after a minute or so, so they don't get tired, change forfeit each time tiggers change.
