Problem/Solution 1
Low block and defend centrally.
Red back line will start inline with the two poles and then drop onto the 18 yard line to indicate a low block with the midfielders and striker also dropping.
Solution:
Movement originally from CMs to come and collect the ball from CBs.
Play into ball side winger.
As the winger engages the fullback, overlapping run from the CM
Ball side Striker makes a run inbetween the ballside fullback and centre half
Furthest Striker darts into the penalty area
Furthest winger makes a back post run
Furthest CM sits on the 18 yard to be able to pick up any loose balls.
Key Points.
Wingers must start narrow then create space to the touchline to create issues for the fullback. Allows space inbetween ballside fullback and centre half when they receive the ball.
Overlapping run from the CM to create a 2v1.
Coaching Points
Movement off the ball
Communication
High ball speed
What if?
If the CB follows the overlapping run.
Ballside Striker must provide an underlapping run due to the space created by the touchline winger and overlap from the CM.

Problem/Solution 2
High press
Red team starts in line with the poles and engage in a high press trying to win the ball quickly and effectively higher up the pitch.
Solution
Wingers to create height and width to drag out fullbacks
CMs to drop deeper to create overloads with CBs
Key one-two touch passing to break the press.
Movement from spare CB to create a 3v2.
Play directly into the 9 to hold up play and allow for CMs to spin and join the attack and create central overloads.
Wingers to makes runs in behind after the ball is played into the 9.
Key Points
CBs must move to create bounce pass opportunities for the under pressure CMs
CMs must spin to aid the attack and create central overloads
Coaching Points
Composure on the ball
Movement off the ball
One-two touch passing
First touch
What if?
CMs cant lose their marker.
Ball has to be played either out wide or directly to the 9 to create a different picture centrally.
If we play out wide we can go back to the CBs and back into a CM.
Directly going into the 9 skips the press and allows the CMs and other striker to be invloved in the attack and create the same scenario overload as orginally intended.
