Skill based activity
Skill based activity organisation - In this rondo skill activity game there will be 6 players on each team, 2 captains that pick their nominated teams. 1 Player from the blue team will be in the oppositions box trying to win the ball back as they pass it around, if the blue manages to win the ball they will pass it back into the blues area then they will have possession. After that it is vice versa where 1 red will run into the blues area and try to win the ball back. If a team manages 5 passes in their own area without being challenged they earn a point, first team to 10 points wins the game.
Interventions & Progressions - The interventions are that if the game is too difficult for them, the pass number can be reduced to 2 - 3 passes to earn a point or if the game is too easy for one team then passes can be increased to 10 passes for example. Another way to make it harder for a team is to add an extra player into play so you have 2 defenders challenging the ball instead of 1, which puts more pressure on the team to move the ball faster. The area could be made bigger if the game is too difficult then so that the team has more time and space on the ball.
Work to rest blocks - As it is a 20 minute game there will be a rest block after 10 minutes, then they will switch areas.
Coaching points - The main coaching points for this activity is to get across to the players the importance communication and working together as a team, doing everything they can to help each other out whether that is finding space for the teammate, getting there head up to see what is around them and their own positioning, quick transitions that as soon as they win that ball and get it back to there own area, they have to be fast to get back to there team.
