Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
In block 2, the session will follow the same layout; however, the transition starts with a pass into the striker before anyone is able to move, The striker is challenged to either run and drop short to combine or can run into the channel to add a different problem for the back 4, runs should either be supporting or beyond looking to manipulate the backline. This is again intensive and will go on in repetitive phases for 5 mins.

Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
For the small-sided game it will be split into two 5 min blocks. The game will play with normal rules with blue team playing with 1 def, 3 midfielders and 3 attackers, whilst reds set up in a back 4 and central 3. (both teams have a big goal and a goalkeeper). The only rule is that once a goal is scored both the player who scored and the player who assisted then need to make a sprint around the wide poles at their attacking end before a recovery run back into shape. The session has been reduced in size to the width of the 18 yard box to reduce running distance in prep for match day. The team who score will be momentarily overloaded so attacks should be direct and quick to ensure that the opposition are punished.

Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
This drill is an intensive practice where players will be working at high intensity, making forward attacking runs, to exploit the spaces in the defensive shape. The ball will start with the central blue in possession who can drive after the coaches whistle into play as well as everyone else on the blue becoming live. The Reds have to start on one knee giving them a disadvantage from the start meaning recovery runs have to be aggressive. Once the ball is live the blues aim is to score as quickly as possible representing a counter-attack whilst the reds have to get back regain possession and try and find an exit pass to a mini-goal. The blues aim is to exploit the spaces exposed using overlaps and underlaps. The attackers should look to be direct attacking spaces and finding the overloads due to high ball speed. The blocks will work in short bursts of 30 seconds and will rotate each time giving ample time for recovery. There will be, 16 players, including 2 goalkeepers.
