Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): NY Select 06 Playing in Own Half

Ball Movement & Touch

Play pattern to score in small goals. Across, then into midfield player, lay off and starter hits strong pass into small goal. Opposite end starts as soon as that ball is hit.

Playing Out

3v2 in green zone, goalkeeper/recovering defenders retrieve a through ball, and team plays out to attack this end. Ball can only travel forward past green line if player in possession can dribble over that line. Play to mini goals over halfway line.

Attacking ball in set pieces

4v4 each end of field. ball is fed in overarm throw/drop kick. Players compete to with header for shot into/away from goal.

1 player  stood a couple yards inside near post and in front. If ball goes over their head, they drop into near post.

2nd one. Nearest black player stands along sideline, 5/6 yards away from corner. 3rd support player 5 yards from corner of the 18. Play around to get a shot off or play in corner taker down goal line. Players in the box move towards back post as corner is taken to open up the field.
