3 Passing Patterns - the first is a standard warm-up, the other two contain elements of breaking lines.


  • Receive with one foot and pass with the other
  • Sprint to follow your pass
  • We'll switch directions after 3 minutes

Sprints to get faster

Speed Work (Monday) (20 mins)

Set-Up - 3 lines. Each has 2 cones that are spaced 12 yds/steps apart

Initial Details - Form and Shape of Body before sprint. One person goes and the rest reacts

Sprinting Elements

  • Run 100% to Line 1 then slow down to a stop to Line 2 (two times)
  • Run 100% to Line 1 then stop immediately. Walk to Line 2 after (two times)
  • Run 100% to Line 1 then walk to the other end of the field (once)
  • Run 100% to Line 2 (four times)
15:1 Rest to Work ratio (example: 3 second sprint means 45 seconds rest)

Tuesday - Jogging around the pitch with your ball.

Global Rondo (30 mins)

Set-Up

  • 2 evenly divided teams + 3-4 neutrals
  • Whole width of the pitch. Length = 18yd to half-line
Activity

  • 1 team in possession working with neutrals
  • 1 team on defense looking to recover the ball
  • If defending team recovers swap the roles
  • Focus on quality of build-up + adjusting to the field
  • Focus on going first to the ball before the bounce.
Look to see which team can sustain possession for the longest period of itme.
