Setup: 20m x 30m grid with goals & GKs at both ends. Balls, bibs, cones etc.
Task: Can we penetrate into the Middle Third?
Instructions:
2 teams 3v3 +GKs. Players are in Numbered pairs as shown, each pair must play in 1v1.
Play begins with the GK. 2 Midfield players drop with CB/CM receiving the ball from GK to turn and run at the defender or to play a pass for either the LM or RM to run at their defender. Can we get a shot on target? Can I support my team mate or be an option to score?
Defenders are at 60% to start. (Pressure only) Defenders can move from starting cone.
Repeat as necessary, then swap roles.
Progression:
Defenders are live - 100%, if defenders win ball can they get a shot on goal.
Coaching Points:
Can we drive past defenders quickly?
Can we use our body to protect the ball when taking on defender?
Can we keep the ball moving?
Can we use a feint or skill to beat the defender?
Can I get my shot away quickly?
