Organisation: Using approx half field per diagram. Large net with keeper, with 4 pug nets at opposite end. Approx 14 players
Activity: 2 teams play approx 8 v 6 (5+GK). Coach plays ball into 8 attackers to start live play. Attackers try to score, with focus on hitting the striker. If defenders win possession they can score on either of 4 pug nets on opposite end. To promote using striker, each time the strike scores take away a pug net the defenders can score on. Play up to 5 goals or all 4 pug nets gone to win, then rotate players for next game.
Coaching Points:
Are they able to create movements to get open for pass? Can the drop when marked tighly and space between defence and mids, can they then turn or play off a teammate and become an option? Can time runs to stay onside receive ball behind defenders? Stay in defenders blind spots? Horizontal runs to gain momentum when defense is high? Recognize when to move out of being primary scoring target and rotating with winger to receive a pass down the line?
Outcome A- Defenders high, make pass behind defence (striker makes horizontal run to stay onside and gain momentum). Passes can be straight for diagonal run, diagonal for straight run, or over the top.
