1v1 With Lop-Sided Goals

SET UP:

- 1v1 game with lop-sided goals.

- Attacker starts by own goal with ball. Defender starts on other side of goal.

- Attacker starts by dribbling onto pitch and tries to score. Normal 1v1 match, if defender wins ball they can score in opposite goal.

- Play until there is a goal or shot. Roatate positions on next go so roles are switched.

KEY POINTS:

- DIRECTION OF DRIBBLE (CAN I GET FORWARD/TOWARDS GOAL AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE?)

- SPEED OF DRIBBLE (CAN I DRIBBLE AT SPEED SO THAT THE DEFENDER CANNOT RECOVER THEIR POSITION?)

- CHANGE IN DIRECTION/SPEED/TOUCHES

- USE OF SKILLS/ BALL MANIPULATION TO CREATE DISTANCE BETWEEN YOU AND DEFENDER

- USE OF SKILLS/BALL MANIPULATION TO MOVE DEFENDER AWAY FROM GOAL/OUT OF POSITION (CAN WE USE THE SKILLS LEARNT IN THE WARM UP? WILL THESE TRANSLATE TO THE SCENARIOS IN THIS GAME?)

- USE OF FAKE MOVEMENTS/DOUBLE MOVEMENTS TO GET DEFENDER OFF BALANCE AND CREATE OPPORTUNITY TO ACCELERATE AWAY

- WHAT SPACE IS AVAILABLE FOR YOU TO BEAT THE DEFENDER? DIRECT AND VERTICAL OR IS THE SPACE TO THE SIDES OF THE DEFENDER?

- CAN I CONTINUE TO GO FORWARD? OR WILL I NEED TO USE SPACE AT SIDE? (CAN I WORK AGAINST THE DEFENDERS DYNAMICS TO CREATE MORE SPACE WHEN I TURN/USE SKILL?)

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

- Defender starts with ball and passes to attacker.

- Include 2nd defender to create 1v2 (facilitate attacker's spatial awareness).

1v1 With Backwards Goals

SET UP:

- Progression from first 1v1 game.

- Backwards goals on opposite side of pitch to attacker.

- Attacker starts in same position. Defender starts between the two goals.

- Attacker can score in either of the two goals.

KEY POINTS:

- DIRECTION OF DRIBBLE (CAN I GET FORWARD/TOWARDS GOAL AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE?)

- SPEED OF DRIBBLE (CAN I DRIBBLE AT SPEED SO THAT THE DEFENDER CANNOT RECOVER THEIR POSITION? CAN I CHANGE SPEED TO GET THE DEFENDER OFF BALANCE?)

- CHANGE IN DIRECTION/SPEED/TOUCHES

- CAN ATTACKER USE FAKE/DOUBLE MOVEMENTS TO CREATE DISTANCE BETWEEN YOU AND THE DEFENDER AND ENOUGH SPACE TO ACCELERATE INTO TO ATTACK/SCORE?

- WHAT SPACE IS AVAILABLE FOR YOU TO BEAT THE DEFENDER? DIRECT AND VERTICAL OR IS THE SPACE TO THE SIDES OF THE DEFENDER?

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

- Gate attacker must dribble through to start game/before they can score.

- Gate can also be used as attacking reference point for defender.

- 1v2 to create attacking underload (returns - speed of attack to reduce chance of underload).
