Learning Objectives

Rondo

4 v 1 - 1 or 2 touch.

4 lines of players who play one pass and then spin to the back of their queue.

Progression:

Rather than spinning to the back of your own queue players join one of the queues to their left or right. This adds an awareness and decision making element as players must make sure there are roughly equal numbers in each queue.

All players head in towards the red cone and perform a skill and turn left.

This is repeated turning to the right.

The person in the leaders corner communicates with the rest of the players indicating when to go.

All players await for his instruction.

More difficult turns / skills for more able.

Learning Objectives

Two teams. Each team plays 3 v 3 at any one time.

Players are encouraged to shoot at every available opportunity. If a shot is saved by the GK, play continues. If a goal is scored the defending team go off and a new team come on to attack.

If a shot goes over the end line (even if it misses the target) the defending team goes off and their team mates launch a new attack from behind the goal. The team that had just had the shot then has to react and quickly think defensively to stop the team advancing up the field and scoring.

Teams waiting to come on are encouraged to attack quickly whilst the opposition are disorganised.

Coaching Points:

Attacking:

Cover ground as quickly as possible.

Forward runs ahead of the ball.

Try to create overloads where possible.

Defenders are encouraged to press the ball quickly.

Delay Deny Deflect when out of balance

Block shots

Press high up the field when in balance.

Force opposition away from goal / on to weaker foot

Recovery runs back to goal where appropriate.
