3v3 - Counter Attacking

3v3 - Counter Attacking Game.

Teams play a 3v3 game vs one another.  In a 20x20 grid (adjust as you need for space indoors).  Condition of game is players must be in the end zone before they can score, as soon as a shot is attempted on goal if it goes in or misses the player that shoots must go to the goal and complete two push push before returning to the game.  The team that was just defending now transitions to attacking and has an overload situation.  No offsides so encourage the team on the ball to stretch the field. 4 minute games.

Coaching Points

  • Got to be willing to run off the ball to effectively counter attack encourage overlaps, slashing runs.
  • Encourage a lot of creative play - there are going to be more mistakes but emphasize the need to play positive quickly. If the same mistake occurs then correct.
  • Encourage the defending team to make things difficult by not giving up, with the goal need to be scored in the end zone they always have a chance to stop the attack.
Progressions
  • The end zone line is now offside so need to time the runs/passes

Transition DA Wave

Counter Attacking Wave Game

Teams begin by attacking each goal one wave at a time, the challenge for each team is to get the shot away in under a certain time (depending on your size of field will determine your time limit) do this for 3 minutes and then look to move to progressions to challenge the team attacking.

Coaching Points

  • Got to be willing to run off the ball to effectively counter attack encourage overlaps, slashing runs.
  • Encourage a lot of creative play - there are going to be more mistakes but emphasize the need to play positive quickly. If the same mistake occurs then correct.
  • Ensure we finish the attack
  • Progressions

    • 1 player from the awaiting wave - this player can act as a defender if they win the ball and stop the attack they get 1 point, if they counter and score its worth 2
    • 2 player from the awaiting wave - these players defend 0 points if they stop the attack and 1 point if they can counter and score.
    • Play these progressions for 5 minutes.

    Counter Attacking Conditioned Game

    Counter Attacking Conditioned Game

Team in possession are looking to keep the ball and pass or dribble through any of the 5 gates.  If the blue team wins the ball they are looking to quickly attack either goal.  Field Dimensions use full dimensions as big as possible. 2 points for a goal and 1 point for the cones.  Play for 5minutes.

    Coaching Points

    • As soon as we win the ball look to quickly create an opportunity to goal
    • Players off the all look to make big runs to either support the attack, create space for the player on the ball to make a sacrificing run.
    Progressions
    • Depending on score of game - make more gates, decrease the number of players pressing.

    End Game

Teams play a 4v4 game.  As soon as a goal is scored the opportunity to counter attack is on, the team that conceeded gets off the field, the goal that was just scored on the player with the ball can quickly look to counter attack by dribbling or passing on.  There is no offsides so the player at the opposite end will be able to receive a pass straight away. Teams keep their overall score 1 point per goal.

    Coaching Points

    • Quick attacking transition
    • Spark the attack with a pass or dribble straight away
    • Look to create scoring opportunities as quickly as possible, emphasis on goals.
    Progressions
    • If the team who just comes on scores within 10 seconds they get 3 points to their tally instead of 1.
