Small Sided Game
Possession with direction whereby the attacking looks to stop the ball on the opposing teams 'end line' once this point has been scored, the team gives up possession and the team who conceed look to play out from their line. small shaded area indicates where the ball must be played into in order to encourage the players to play out instead of kicking the ball long.
dependant on ability, you can chose to allow the defending team to apply presure in that zone or not.
Key Points:
Play short into your 'end zone'
Quick, precise pass so we don't lose possession.
Receiver to have open body position so first touch takes them into space on the pitch
supporting players need to make pitch as big and open as possible by moving into high and wide positions

11 v 11 Game Scenario
Set up a game with all the usual rules you would expect in a competative game. From Goal Kicks, encourage attacking team (blue) to set up in order to make the pitch as big as possible. Take principles from the SSG previous to try and play out from the goalkeeper.
Blue team try to play into any of the 3 goals on the half way line.
Key Points:
Split CB - if unable to receive the ball on the corner of the box, drop wide level with the 6 yard line
LB/RB High and Wide
CM high up pitch, but able to rotate and be another option for the CB or RB on the ball.
Red team apply pressure to keep some realism to the game

Although simple, it's important to emphasise the key passing and receiving points which you will require later in the session during this unapposed practise.
Key Points:
Communication - address the player you are passing to/receiving from
Direct Pass - its important not to lose possession with 'stray passess' when playing out from the back otherwise we may conceed
Open Body Position - open your body so your first touch can take you into space, important when we try to play out from the back
