Description

Learn to control the tempo of the game when you lose a player.

Players are to learn to control possession and keep defensive shape in the middle and attacking thirds when players are lost to injury or a red card.

Dynamic Warmup (15 mins)

LOOSEN UP - Dynamic Warm Up (-20 mins, prior to training
starting)
PLAYER LED - each week 3 different players lead it.
Players organise this and lead themselves.
2 groups, 20m run
1: 2 x slow jog (30%), sharp turn, half pace back (50%)
2: 2 x skip with swinging arms, sharp turn, half pace back (50%)
3: 2 x cross over legs facing north, turn, cross over legs facing
south
4: 2 x open gate, turn, close the gate
5: 2 x headers - 5 up, turn, 5 back
6: 2 x forward lunges, turn, half pace back (50%)
7: 2 x "sumo" (side lunges), turn, half pace back (50%)
8: 2 x "kick the door down", turn, half pace back (50%)
9: 2 x "Karate Kid" (high, cross swing leg), turn, half pace back (50%)
10: 2 x Diagonal sprints - in an out of cones
11: 2 x Half Pace (50%) jog back

12: 2 x 3/4 Pace (75%) jog back 

13: 4 x Full Pace (100%) jog back
5 mins of personal static stretching.

Ball Mastery (10 mins)

CELTIC TURNS 
PLAYER LED
Working on - muscle memory, close ball mastery.
Players work for 10 solid minutes.
Must play with head up - scanning left and right.
If the bump into another player or lose ball, they must sprint round
half pitch.

Pattern / Passing play (20 mins)

Set Up:

30 X 25 split into 3 equal areas 25 x 10m


Instructions:
Ball starts at one end of the field,
Team in Blue is to keep possession vs 1 red.

Once 3 passes are made an additional defender from red comes in and another after 6 and so on.

If blue team in BP feel under pressure they are to try and release the ball to the team in black who will then maintain BP with the reds progressively adding defenders based on passing numbers.


Progressions:


Can we play 2 touch when in BP.

Can reds slow the play down to allow team mates to keep shape and set up defensively.

Game Training (30 mins)

Set Up:


6v6 or 7v7 in attacking to middle thirds with 1 magic man to create the overload of a player being sent off.
Half field


Instructions:
Players to maintain possession and try to attack the defending team at pace with precision passing and players getting in between the lines.

Team in BPO need to control the tempo of the game and slow the attack down as they go down a player.

We need to keep our shape and have players drop into position in BPO to accommodate the player that gets "sent off" to avoid being caught out.


Progressions:
Can we look to play two touch when in BP at attacking at speed with precision play.
Can team in BPO slow the tempo of the game and eliminate / negate holes in our shape

Can we keep possession as long as possible in the BPO>BO moments of the game.
