Skill Development (10 mins)

Set Up

20 x 30 area to play in (this will be the Lusail Stadium, Qatar where the World Cup Final will be played)
1 ball per player

Practice

Players must dribble their ball around the Lusail Stadium
Blue gates (open) - Mbappe (France) - Players must dribble through the gap as fast as possible like Mbappe.
Red gate (closed) - Modric (Croatia) - Player must stop and turn at the red cones like Modric.
Yellow cones - Neymar (Brazil) - 4 cones dribble in and out taking small touches or 1 cone perform a skill move such as a stepover like Neymar.
White cones / minigoal - Kane (England) can we score a goal like kane?

Progression

Have a competition! All players must race to go to every World Cup Player twice. The winner must shout Qatar when they finish.

Coaching Points

Keep the ball close and take small touches
Head up to look about to stay safe and find space
Coach can support or challenge individuals
Coach can commentate as if it is a match

Fun Game (10 mins)

Set Up

20 x 30 area to play in (this will be the Lusail Stadium, Qatar where the World Cup Final will be played)
1 ball per player

Practice

The World Cup fun game
Players play a typical game of 'King of the Ring'
Group stages - first to 3 wins
Knockouts - first to 4 wins
THE WORLD CUP - first to 7 wins
To score 1 point players must kick another player's ball out the stadium (off the pitch).
If you get knocked out the stadium to re-enter (The game/pitch) your must score a goal into the minigoal from the red flat marker.

Progression

Play 3 rounds as stated in practice.
First round replicates 3 matches in a group stage.
Second round replicates 4 matches in the knockouts.
Third round is the most challenging and replicates 7 games to win the tournament.
(Progression could be if you get knocked out the stadium you lose 1 point - get set back a round)

Coaching Points

Protect your ball and use your body to shield.
Look up for other players coming to tackle you.
Take your time and dribble into spaces.
Look out for players taking a big touch or trying to tackle someone then kick their ball out.

Chase Game (10 mins)

Set Up

20 x 30 area to play in (this will be the Lusail Stadium, Qatar where the World Cup Final will be played)
1 ball per player plus 2 catchers in orange

Practice

The VAR game
Nathan Ake and Virgil Van Dijk are the catchers in orange (Netherlands)
Catchers must steal other players footballs and score a goal. First to 3 wins! Attackers can win the ball back!
The players must dribble to the VAR monitors and perform 5 toe taps to check what happened in the game.
The players must dribble through the black circle in the middle to pass this information to the referee.
Every time the pass on information they get 10 points

Progression

Rotate players/catchers when the Ake or Van Dijk gets 3 goals.
Rotate all players every 3 minutes if nobody gets 3 goals.

Coaching Points

Protect your ball and use your body to shield.
Look up for catchers coming to tackle you.
Defenders don't rush into tackle.
Take your time when shooting.

Small Sided Game (10 mins)

Set Up

20 x 30 area to play in (this will be the Lusail Stadium, Qatar where the World Cup Final will be played)
Scoring zones set up using big cones and flat markers

Practice

The World Cup FINAL | Ronaldo v Messi | Portugal v Argentina
Red v Blue 4v4 match with scoring zones
Players can only play 1v1 in scoring zone
1 player can only enter scoring zone for 10 seconds at a time

Progression

Allow players to play 2v2 in scoring zones.
