Think of the field as 5 different zones. While important... we will NOT spend too much time on this concept. This is for a visual to give the players ideas on spacing.
- Zones 1 and 5 our the width of the field.
- Zones 2 and 4 are the center halves
- Zone 3 is the largest and where the majority of the possession will happen.

Notice the spacing of the players relating to the zones. This is good visual on the desired spacing. Typically, we ensure that we are not overloaded in any of the zones. For example, the 2 and 11 should be aware of each others positioning.. if the 2 is wide, the 11 is more central. If the 11 is wide, the 2 becomes more central. We can also begin to see the shapes we desire on the pitch... diamonds/triangles.
