3) of the 4 players in each team place 2 on oppsite sides
4) Spare balls to be placed by players 1 & 3
Exercise
1) Player 1 passes the ball to player 2 and then runs into the centre
2) Player 2 recieves the ball and runs with the ball with the aim of reaching the opposite line, avoiding the defender
3) Defender tries to intercept the player
4) point awarded to the defender for intercepting or the attacker for reaching the line
5) Successful or not player 2 must now go to the end of the cue on the oppsite line ready to restart the cycle but from the other side
6) As soon as we have a result the cycle begins again but this time with player 3 passing to player 4
7) Swap so that the defenders become attackers and vice versa
Mechanics:
1) Get ball out of feet
2) make contact with the laces
3) Head up
4) Get into running stride
5) Move quickly
Progression
1) by adding more pressure to the attacking player we can reduce the area size of the playing area to 10 x 10
2) add another defender
3) time players to see how quick they can get to the other side
Regression:
1) remove defender from play. Coach to stand in the middle and coach decides which side the runner should run at the last moment
2)
Caution:
Due to the high intensity short burst runs players will need moments to recover before going again. Burn out is highly possible unless this is managed correctly!
