Core Skill - First Touch
Specific Aspect - When receiving the ball under pressure, moving away from a defender and into space.
Key Principle - Individual Skill
Session Objective: To improve the players ability to take a quality first touch into space whilst under pressure.
Skill Intro (20 mins):
3 grids, 2 groups of 7 & 1 group of 6.
Play starts at station 1, passes to station 2 who plays bounce pass straight back to the 4. 4 then takes a first touch in the firection of the wide player then makes a pass to station 3. 3 takes a touch towards station 4 before making a pass. 4 bouces the ball back and loops round the defender for 3 to make a first time pass infront of 4 who carries the ball through the exist cones.
** after 6 minutes, players to change grids so they are working both left & right hand sides.
Step down: everybody must take minimum 2 touches.
Step up: One touch by all stations.
Looking for players in the 7 & 11 postion to stay as wide as possible prior to receiveing the ball. When station 4 bounce paces they are turning a cone (whilst facing the play) to create a passing lane.

Skill Training (25 mins):
10 players (2 grids)
6 v 4
6 is attacking team, objective is to progress the ball over the end line to score a goal. Players must take a first touch,.
** Change team after 12 minutes so the defenders get a turn of attacking. **
Player Tasks:
Position yourself so you can see the ball and your next target.
Know what you will do before the ball arrives.
Move the ball away from traffic and into space.
If possible, can first touch be forward?
Continue to support after you have played the ball.
Coaches Cues:
Can your first touch be towards the goal?
Are you able to see where the ball is coming from and where you want to go with it?
Does the ball need to stop with your first touch?
What foot should I take my first touch with so you protect the ball?
Step Up's: Add another defender. All players must get a touch before scoring.
Hidden learning: if attack team looses the ball, need to quickly transition into a BPO position (make the field small) to try and win back possession / stop a goal being scored as quick as possible.

5 v 5 on 1/4 pitch
5 outfield players: Attack goal with the keeper to start. Goal worth 1.
4 outfiled players & keeper: attack other goal, goal worth 2.
After 10 minutes - swap sides and re-start.
