Technical Activation (10 mins)

Objective -
To gradually increase the intensity of the session and promote the movements required throughout the latter phases.


Description -
GK1 will move forward to the white cone before retreating to the red, Coach will then strike a low ball toward the pole for Save 1, GK1 will then get up quickly as coach rolls a ball toward the white cone for Save 2. 6 each side.

Progression - 

Save one becomes a mid/high diving save.

Phase One - Fitness (10 mins)

Objective -

To increase resilience, fitness and explosive saves.


Description -
GK1 will start on their stomach in between the two red cones, they will then sprint and make the save from GK2, once the save is made they will sprint to the opposite side, get on their stomach and sprint to make the save from GK3. They will repeat this cycle 3 times.

Phase Two - Speed Movement (20 mins)

Objective -

To make effective saves whilst under fitness fatigue


Description -
GK1 will start centrally and move toward either the blue or red cones, they will get into set position before turning and reacting to varied the service from Coach and defend the small goal. Service may be firm strike, bouncing ball, slow roll.

Phase Three - Speed & Footwork (20 mins)

Objective -
To perform recovery saves (block/diving) under fatigue.


Description -
GK1 will set infront of GK2 who will roll a ball toward the red cone on the goal line. Coach will call 'Go', GK1 will then turn and run to save the ball before it crosses the goal line. They will then immediately get up and sprint to block a ball from GK3 (light ball). They will then run to the red cone at the opposite post and move across the goal to save a strike from Coach. 4 reps and change goalkeeper. Rotate after everyone has been through twice each side.
