Setup
2 goals double the 18 area

2 attackers begin in their attacking area
2 defenders begin defending their goal
Sequence
player A passes to B showing for pass
player B can either lay off to A or turn dribble and find C or D
3 attackers quickly indentify opportunity and finish; no more than 4 secs
if goal is scored, shot on target or GK makes save same team continues attacking
if loss of possession any other way other team quickly starts attacking
play is always started with pass to B position
rotation is position A to B to C to D; only after beginning attack; rotation is by senority of players not in midde(longest is out)

7 min/ 2 rounds

rotate defensive after every attack attempt
keep the same attacking team entire time, then rotate
1st team to set amount of goals wins

Defending the Counter-Attack Counter
Identify defensive areas to exploit upon gaining posession and counter quickly. Recognition and communication in defending the areas to and near the goal.
Sequence
-Half pitch, restricted in length with appropriate size goal at one end & 4 small goals across pitch, as illustrated.
-16 Players (incl. GK), arrange 7 v 8 in teams formation
-Exercise starts with GK rolls ball-out to the defending team.
-Blue look to build-up play & score in any of the 4 goals.
-Red are looking to gain possession & quickly counter-attack to single goal with GK.
-After conclusion of an attack
-Roles of teams can be reversed after a defined period of play or number or restarts.
Focus
-work ethic getting back behind ball to defend.
-to defend realistically at all times, tracking runs & challenging.
-quick reaction to adjust position & depth of defensive line in relation to ball movement.
-engaging player on ball swiftly to delay & deny forward passing.
-sliding across as a unit, remaining compact & leaving furthest attacker away from ball.
-ensure a quicker tempo in passing & movement from team in possession (2-3 touch)
-encourage creative, clever play in advance areas
-quick forward runs through defense
Points
-players ahead of ball to recover at pace to establish defensive block behind ball.
-once goal-side; adjust from pressing to cover & balance in relation to ball & defensive line.
-engage player on ball (if possible) on recovery run.
-quick and fast reaction to movement of players to initiate counter-attack.
-quick and determined change of attitude from players, def. to att. and vice versa.
-quality and execution of end product on goal.
Options
-limit passes before attempt on counter goal for defensive team
-recovery runs to poles for attackers and flags for defenders after play is finished(conditioning phsyically and mentally)
