Overall Session Aim:
To draw opposition into concentrated areas of the field , to affect the rhythm of the play; to create overloads to switch point of attack more effectively.

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Organization:
Same setup as previous
Instructions:
Same format, however, team is given a specific direction to attack; for each time they are able to play into target neutral they can look to score in the goal until possession is lost.
Once possession is gained by opposing team they can look to do the same after they complete the necessary amount of passes.
Coaching Points:
-Central Neutrals movement to be able to transition and help to retain possession
-Recognition when penetration is blocked off look to possess and "reshuffle"

Main Activity (4v4+4) (20 mins)
Organization:
4 neutrals (2 located in wide channels, 2 located in central channel) (2 neutrals dependant on numbers of session)
4v4 (5v5, 3v3) depending on numbers of session
12x12 boxes
5 yard neutral zones
Instructions:
Movement
-Teams are not restricted to playing in 1 box at a time
-Neutrals in wide channels- can shift into vacant box to connect
-Neutrals in central channel- 1 neutral can join into main playing grid, the other can shift to provide support
Objective:
Connect 5 passes (3 dependent of ability/sucess rate) before looking to switch ball to opposite target in wide channel to gain a point. Play immediately continues in opposite grid, with same objective looking to be completed.
*If team is able to complete objective 2x in a row, they get 4 points
Coaching Points:
-Body Shape to receive ball
-How can we provide support when in possession (angles/ multiple options)
-Ability to quickly shift the ball. What does this do to the opposition? (Draws them out of shape)
-Movement of Target Neutrals- Can you remain connected when play is on opposite grid and come inside to get onto the ball? What cues can we look for to provide width?
-Indirect/Direct Ball to Switch into opposite- What affects the decision? How can the central neutrals, movement and body shape helped to allow this?
- When ball is played into target, support underneath ball to provide immediate options to retain possession.
Counter Principles (Defending with the Ball)
-Shifting with the ball to establish numbers around
-Ability to Counter press upon losing the ball, not allow the ball to be able to be played out of the current grid
