Coaching Points:
Start by explaining to the kids what you are trying to do
Start the balls behind one goal and let the kids try working the ball out from the back.
Stop them after a few mins and demonstrate what you are trying to do. Let them see
Let them play again for a few minutes and guide them.
After playing time is over, talk about what happened, did they learn anything, guide them to the answers and hopefully they remember

Method: 7 v 4 formation
Pitch Size: 50 x 30m
7 Blue (GK, 2 x CB, 3 x Midfielders, 1 x FW)
4 Red (3 x Midfielders, 1 x FW)
3 Sets of Gates
1 x Retreat line 1/3 of pitch
Blues are working the ball from the goalkeeper out from back and are trying to dribble the ball threw one of the three gates.
Reds are trying to intercept play and if they do, transition to attack and try and score into the goals
Blues need to be able to transition to defense if they lose the ball.
5 balls behind the goal and see how many they can dribble threw the gates
Behind gates working directly with 2 x CB and GK working ball out from back, CB spreading wide and deep,
GK passing nicely weighted pass threw blue cones to CB's Open Body position, facing forward and moving forward when receiving the pass
N.B. My Coaching Methods:
> Let them play (2 mins)
> Freeze and discuss (guided discovery)
> Coach in the Flow
> where necessary Individual coaching 1 to 1
***
Coaching Points:
1. Create width and depth to establish good starting positions
2. Good Quality and Selection of passes (accuracy, timing, weight, and disguise)
3. Create Space and options in front of the ball by midfield players and timing runs into the box
4. Backs moving towards halfway line and helping to make pitch smaller.
5. Forward and wide midfielders making penetrating runs with or without the ball to create space
6. Provide quick support - no gaps between units
7. Maintain CDM (no.6) holding Centrally to provide cover and balance to manage the transition with wide Midfielders getting back quickly should they lose possession
