Street Soccer Arrival (25 mins)

Send you players over to the Progress Coaches and they will have your players go straight into a scrimmage as they arrive. They will start multiple games of 2v2/3v2 and 3v3 etc rather than a game with a high number of players.

Receive and around (15 mins)

Set up a gate with different coloured cones (red and yellow) and that can later identify left and right.

The gap between them should be about two or three yards The player at the front of the blue line passes the ball to the player at the front of the orange line.

To begin with the have the players go to one side (yellow) for a couple of minutes, then have them take the ball to the other side (red). Once the players have the idea of the game to make it more competitive the coach calls out a colour as the ball is moving thru the gate and the player has to react the coaches call.

If you find your players really enjoying this game you could try doing opposites.

3v1 Passing and Possession (20 mins)

Create a box 10x10 yards

Three Attacker try and keep the ball away from a defender. Designate the defender by having them hold onto a pinnie. If the defender wins the ball or the ball goes out of bounds the defender should drop the pinnie and the offending attacker becomes the defender.

If the attacking players complete 5 passes the defender gets a point, the player with the lowest points wins the game.

Can the two supporting players not hide behind the defender but insead move to receive a pass.

The attackers first touch must not be towards the defender.

1v1 to two goals (20 mins)

Divide your field down the middle as shown, split your players into two teams and have half of the line up at the centre cone (yellow cone) and the other half line up on the centre of the touchline. You should also create a shooting zone (about 5 yards) from Each goal.

The blue defenders pass the ball across to the red attackers. Players can score in either goal but have to enter the shooting zone before scoring. If the defender wins the ball the defender can score in either goal also.

Have the players start as soon as the ball goes out of bounds or is scored.

If coaching at the younger age group the coach may want to pass the ball across so ensure accuracy and keep the activity moving along.

Can the attackers take a 'positive first touch' towards one of the goals?

If the defender 'seals off a goal' can the attacker change direction and attack the open goal?

Can the defender move across to take some of the attackers space qwhile the ball is moving?

If you have many players you can play the same game on the other side of the field simultaneously.
