Prior to activity:
Allow players to dribble around freely and change speeds between Messi and Ronaldo. Cues - Truck / Sport Car.
Objective:
Getting the players to (1) change speed and direction with the ball away from pressure, using different surfaces. (2) comfortable dribbling in space, stopping the ball quickly, and m.
Organization:
25 x 25 grid
Each player with a ball
Instructions:
1. Coach yells green light and players move freely with their ball in the grid, acting like cars by making the sound of an engine.
2. Coach yells red light and players must quickly get their ball under control and stop it from moving with the sole of their foot.
3. When the coach yells green light, the players continue dribbling in space.
Coaching Points:
1. Messi + Ronaldo touches (small vs. big)
2. Movement - change in speed and direction.
3. Balance and Coordination
4. Ball control - why do we want to keep the ball close to our feet?
5. How quickly can we stop the ball?
Progressions:
Start: With the players moving around freely playing Red light - Green light without the ball
(P.1) - Incorporate using the ball in the activity
(P.2) - If the ball goes out you've run out of gas! You must do 5 toe taps in order to refuel
(P.3) - If the police car (coach) tags you, you must freeze and stay frozen until another player comes by and kicks his/her ball through your legs.

Warm-up activity to work on coordination and familiarity with the ball

One player - One ball
Instructions:
1. Coach demonstrates something he/she can do without the ball 3-4 times to the players, saying "I can do this, can you?" Players must try to copy coaches action.
2. Ask the players to be the leader, and demonstrate what they can do without a ball, and then entire group tries to copy the player's action. Everyone gets a turn
