Football Problem
We fail to identify when to apply effective pressure in the final third to stop teams playing out from the back
Session Objective
In this session I hope to acheive a better understanding in the roles of the 9,10,8,7 & 11 when teams play out from the back so we can win the ball back asap
Organisation
3 teams of 4 with 2 Jokers acting as a 6 for their respective zones.
The red team starts with the ball and trys to progress the ball to Blue team
Yellow team defending as a midfeild line of 6,8,7,11.
If the ball is transferred the blue team are to pass the ball and the yellow team turn and enter their grid and trys to win the ball.
The Joker transitions into the middle zone and acts as a 6 to bounce or help play the ball through
When yellow win the ball they enter they swap with the team that made the error.
The team entering the grid must have the two wide players touch the cones out of the grid prior to them trying to win the ball
Each transfer for the BP team is a point
Progression
Limit to two touches
Every time the team in BP are forced to complete 10 passes and cant transfer the ball the yellow team gets two bonus points.
passing on the ground through the zones nothing in the air allowed
Team Task
Team in BPO have one pressing the ball and forcing direction
Team mates communicate from the middle zone in terms of left or right press
Players in middle zone cutting off angles for transfer to take place
Player Tasks
Immediate press when ball is transfered
force the direction of play
cut off forward pass
Keep ball moving in BP
move in to space after you have made a pass
opposite grid always move into space to try and encorage a pass through the grid
Coaches Cues
pressing options
have they dictated the area the ball goes
is their team mate reading the signs and moving
is the communication good

Organisation
Set up as shown 7 V 6 + K.
The red players players are trying to score in either of the three goals.
Blue players defend as a compact unit preventing oppostion from scoring in the three goals.
When blue win the ball they can use a maximum of 6 passes to score past the GK.
Progression
All passes must be played along the ground.
Limit touches for red team and for every ten completed passes the red team get an extra point,
blue team unlimited touches to score a goal
Bring blue team back to bottom of halfway line circle and play from the coach to the kepper to restart. this will help them take up position from an unorganised position
Team Task
All players to remain cohesive and compact when pressing opposition to the sideline
communicate when players havent taken up the correct position.
Player Tasks
11 or 7 blue to ensure they are close enough to 5 & 2 so they are not an option
9 or 10 blue start by pressing the ball carrier and forcing a certain direction.
Whoever isn't pressing out of 9 & 10 blue is to position them selves so the play does not get switched back through the keeper
8 Blue is to press hard on 8 if he drops in to receive the ball
11 to come across in support and take up a central position
Coaches Cues
Communication by coaching players in front of you (Delay, push right, push left, press high).
Are the players pressing on the correct player and stopping them playing out from the back
Are they dictating direction of play and setting the trap
Are the players shirt tight to their opposition
