Area: 18 by 10 yards (4v2 defending overloads)
Session: Coach will play a ball into the right hand side of the grid where we have 3 red players and a GK creating 4 players. The defending group that is on the sideline will send 2 players to pressure the 4 players in red creating a 4v2 on the right side only.
Focus: The two defenders are looking to pressure the four players with the ball. The two will need to look to press together and stay compact so that they don't give up space centrally for the in possession team to play central. Force play wide, cut off angles of players passing lane and use sideline as an extra defender making it difficult for team in possession to connect.
Regressions:
- In possession team must connect 6 passes before going forward
- Add another defender making it 4v3
Progressions:
- Making defenders start on the center part of the grid until in possession team make their first pass before defenders enter the grid
- Make the Area size bigger
Coaching Points:
- Stacy compact
- Cut off angles of the passing lane
- Pressure together, force play wide

4v2 Overloads
Area: 18 by 10 yards (4v2 overloads)
Session: Coach will play a ball into the right hand side of the grid where we have 3 red players and a GK creating 4 players. The defending group that is on the sideline will send 2 players to pressure the 4 players in red creating a 4v2 on the right side only.
Focus: The team in possession is looking to connect passes and keep the ball moving across each grid. Once the ball is passed into the next grid one of our red players must quickly transition to that grid to create an overload again making it 4v2. The 2 defending players must press and win the ball and score in the goal of the grid they are in right away.
Progressions:
- In possession team must connect 6 passes before going forward
- Add another defender for the out of possession team making it 4v3
Regressions:
- Making defenders start on the center part of the grid until they make their first pass before entering the grid
- Make the Area size bigger
Coaching Points:
- Movement to create gaps in between defenders
- Open up wide to create more space central
- Look to play Forward
