creating overloads in possession.
organisation
6v4 on the pitch, idea is to create overloads out wide against teams that sit deep with a back 4 to start then will look at how to break down a back 5 and defensive midfielder. looking at working with the reds in possession and managing the blues. The aim of the session is the ball will always start with one midfielder playing into a front 3 player the ball must go back wards from there to be able to switch the ball, once a red touches the ball this is when two defenders from either side of the goal come onto the pitch. also when the ball is in play can our front three, full backs and our midfielders work together to combine and make a goal scoring opportunity. Anyone is allowed inside the coned off zones to start off with. however to be able for the reds to score they must switch the ball through the midfield twice after this the reds are allowed an overload of 2 players in the channel and the blues will only be allowed one.
challenges / conditions / targets
- as soon as the blue team win the ball they have 8 seconds to score in the mini goals
- midfielder, front 3 and fullback create triangles to get the cross in
- only 2 red players are allowed in one channel at a time
- ball has to be switched certain amount of times before you cross
key points
- front 3 be fluid but stay narrow to allow space out wide
- move the ball with intensity
- defensive unit only 1 person at a time is allowed in the channelled zones
- if full back drives into the middle of the pitch the midfielder has to go into the channel
- can we combine and find a cross from in behind instead of deep
- always 3 forwards attacking the cross - movement
