Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): UFA Rec Clinic (Kindergarten) - S6 Dribbling

Sleeping Giant

Organization:

1. 20x20 area.

2. Every player with a ball.

3. Blue cones or pinnies laid out as lakes.

4. Orange cones laid out as lava patches.

Instructions:

1. Sleeping giant has food in his house (yellow pinnies represented by yellow cones in diagram).

2. Players travel through the enchanted forest with their magic soccer ball.

3. If giant awakes he will look out to the forest and shout, "Who goes there?"

4. Soccer players, standing completely still with foot on ball shout, "We're nothing but talking trees!"

5. Players put giant back to sleep by singing "Twinkle twinkle little star."

6. Players continue towards giant's house to steal his food and return home safely.

7. Avoid lakes or ball will sink. Avoid lava patches or ball will burn.

8. Keep ball close to use magic to look like a talking tree.

Coaching Points:

1. Head up.

2. Close ball control.

3. Surfaces of foot to dribble (inside, outside, sole).

4. Surface to stop the ball (sole).

Progressions: Giant refuses to fall asleep after awaking and chases after food. Add/remove lava patches and/or lakes.
