SetUp
20x30 area
Organization: 3 Min Rotations
A) Player 1 starts with the ball and passes into player 2 who checks away from mannequin. Player 2 plays back to player 1 at an angle. Player 1 passes to 3 who takes a touch and plays to player 2. Player 2 opens hips and plays to player 4 who dribbles through gates. Switch Directions.
Progressions
B) 1 > 2 > 1 > 3 > 2 > 4 (plays wall pass with 3) and then dribbles with speed down endline. Switch Directions.
C) 1 > 2 > 1 > 3 > 2 > 4 (lays off to 3 and then runs forward to receive aerial ball from 3) > 4 dribble to endline.
Coaching Points
Firm, accurate passing.
Timing of seperation from the dummy(defender) to create space.
Body shape/angle and first touch in the direction of next pass.
Cues for 1 touch and 2 touch?
How are we receiving the ball? What can we always do before we receive the ball? (peak and check away).

THE SESSION: 1v1 Transition
Red player dribbles to score in goal to start.
-As soon as they they have an attempt on goal they defend side goal and Blue player dribbles to score in side goal. Blue player then defends and the sequence continues.
PROGRESSIONS:
Captains for each team to count goals
2v2/3v3

The Session:
Coach fires a ball in to reds who attack blues 2v2. Reds try to score in one of the three goals. If blues win the ball they need to find coach for a point.
Key Points:
- One press, One cover
- Body shape to see ball and player
- Stop them playing forward
- Force them away from the goals/ defend the red
- Triggers to press/tackle (Bad first touch, head down, back to goal etc. etc.)

2v2 Zoned (see next activity)

The Session:
This time the defenders cannot tackle and are locked in to a zone. They try to screen the 3 goals. The reds have 10 seconds to try and score by passing in to one of the three goals, if they can't find a way to pass forward they turn and play to the next two reds, and the next two blues come and defend.
**Scoring:
Reds = 1 goal everytime they score with a pass
Blues = Intercepting pass, forcing reds to turn out and start again.
Key Points:
- Focus on defending, emphasis on stopping them playing forward
- Sliding and screen, in-between ball and the goal
- No gaps between defenders, play together and stay compact
- Don't sell yourself and over committ to a ball you can't win
Progression:
After 5 passes defenders can come out of zone to try and win the ball

THE SESSION:
Player passes the ball out to one of the reds and comes and defends 2v1. The other blue player sprints out around the pole and attempts to recover.
KEY POINTS:
-Movement to make use of overload
-Zig Zag
-Play quickly
-Be creative and inventive

Organization:
1. 30 x 30 area split into two, setup as shown
2. 12 players (3 Attackers & 3 Defenders)
3. 4 Mini Goals setup as shown
4. 1 Ball (additional on outside)
Instructions:
1. Teams play 3v3 across two fields
2. Attacking team start with ball & enter area - aim to score in Mini Goals at opposite end
3. Attacking players can move anywhere across both field
4. Defending teams are numbered 1-3. 1 & 3 have to stay on their field while central Defender can move between fields to assist wide Defenders.
5. If Defending team win the ball they aim to score at opposite end
6. Play until a goal is scored or ball goes out. After set time rotate Attackers & Defenders
Coaching Points:
1. Pressure - close down the space & deny penertration
2. Angle of approach & Body Shape - try to dictate the play one way
3. Communication - coach eachother
4. Responsitilies of positions - Pressure (1st Defender), Cover (2nd Defender) & Balance (3rd Defender)
5. Move as a Unit - travel as the ball travels
6. Focus & Patience - wait for the right time to win the ball
Progressions:
P - Defenders pass the ball out to Attackers to begin the play
P - Time limit for Defenders to win the ball
P - Time limit for Attackers to score. Defenders get point if they contain attack for 30secs

Organization:
-create a grid 30x20 yards
-20 cones
-plenty of soccer balls (10-20)
-4 teams of 3 players or 2 teams of 4 players
Procedure:
A pile of soccer balls in the middle, race between teams to get the balls back one by one as fast as possible. (Running with the ball). May also add prescribed ball manipulations.
Once all the balls are back get them to tally it up and then let them rob each others nests.
Progression:
Can be changed to add passing (could add a pass from the box you got the ball from and your team-mate must controlthe ball in your box for you to keep it). Shown with Yellow Players.
May steal from other teams after middle is emptied.
Coaching Points:
-keep head up
-using laces to push the ball forward
-keep strides long
