Description

Organisation (Practice Layout & Transition)

Final third area size. mini goals representing striker positions

Defensive shape: 2 blocks of 4

Attacking shape: 2 wingers, 2 cM 2 attackers.

How, Coach, starts with the ball playing to the attacking team. The attacking team have to play into a wide player in the channel to start the attack. The defensive team must not enter the channel until the ball has entered.

The attacking team score a point each time both wide players receive the ball or when they score.

The defensive team scores a point for defending successfully and a further point for scoring on the transition.

Frame the defensive positioning beforehand; talk about pressing triggers when the ball is played wide and pressing triggers when wingers play into the CM.

Triggers:

When the ball is played to the winger, the fullback steps out, showing wide and closing down quick and delaying; the CB and CM slide across, pulling teammates and shuffling as a unit. When the ball is wide, the team slides across; it should be no wider than half the pitch in width. Allow the opposite winger to be free, as he is not a dangerous player. Opposite-side full-back open body shape to allow quick pressing if balls are switched, but also, if the winger enters the box, he can be marked. if the ball is worked across the slide as a unit and create same shape on the opposite side.

Once the ball has been one, what is our movement? can we attack the space quickly and try to score in a fast transition. Once possession is won must score in 8 seconds.
