What is the aim of the session? SMART targets
S - The skill this drill targets is two touch edge of the box shooting.
M - This type of skill will be tracked by the amount of shots taken by goals scored.
A - This skill should be achieved when the player scores more than half of the even number of shots taken.
R - This is relevant for my player because they will be able to perform this on the pitch due to their position they may have a chance to only take one touch before the defender applies pressure so they have to take on the shot.
T - This should be achieved in the time frame of the session.
Participant details:
Age - 17
Gender - male
Number of participants - 12
Ability level - U19s fit reasonable player
Medical history - No
Roles and responsibilities
Leader - Geraint Cummins
Coach - Geraint Cummins

This is suitable for the players because the pitch is a high quality standard and there are multiple emergency exits. There is first aid equipment and staff available in case of an emergency and the sports equipment is up to standard.
The rules that will be used to ensure my session is safe are that balls must not be kicked once the session has been stopped. When moving cones and mannequins only the coach must touch them. No contact during the drills. Everyone must take part because there is a role for each person to fill during each drill.
Once the session is finished I will ask for feedback from the players if they felt included, if they feel they learned something and if it was challenging.

The player will start with the ball on the side of the goal by the touchline. He will play any type of pass either on the floor or in the air for the person on the edge of the box to control the ball in the D and take a match pace shot at goal. Once the player has passed and shot they will re join the back of their line and the ball will switch sides each time. Each team will get 5 minutes to score as many goals as possible and the team with the most goals at the end will win.
Coaching points are focusing on how to control the ball, how to strike the ball and how to aim with power and accuracy.
A progression for this drill would be that when the pass is played out in the air a player from the other line will run out and try and block the shot. A regression for this drill would be that they can start with the ball instead to take a touch out in front of them and shoot.

For this drill both lines will start on the outside of the cone, and a middle man will be placed just off the D to play a bounce pass. The player starting with the ball will play it into the middle man, who will play a straight bounce just in front of the player who has made a curving run around the cone they started from to then play a first time shot into the mini goal. Once they have shot they will then take place in being the middle man and the original middle player will join the back of that line.
Coaching points would be to focus on hitting the ball hard and low into the small goal giving the keeper a harder chance of saving the ball, encourage yourself to use both feet and communicating with the passing player.
A progression in this drill will be that a goalkeeper or defender will start behind the goal and only once the middle man has bounced the player they will run around the goal and try and block the shot. If they score or miss they will just go back behind the goal ready for the next shot. A regression for this drill would be to have no opposing defender and that each player has unlimited touches.

The attacking team will start with the ball at the deepest player. He will then play a ball across into the opposite player who will receive it on the back foot and play a straight pass into the winger. When the winger takes their touch they will either beat their man, run to the bi line and play a pass back onto the edge for the middle player to take a touch and shot, or if he does not take on the defender he will dribble forward then cut it back for the middle player to then still take a 2 touch shot on the edge of the box. The defenders will not be trying to tackle the attackers but they will still try and block the shot. If they block and shot and keep possession of the ball they can then have a chance of scoring in the mini goals. The rotation will be that the middle man will change each time and the ball will come in from either side.
Coaching points for this drill would be to have a structured formation in order to score, create overlapping runs to open a gap for the player to shoot through. For the defensive team they must try and stay compact as a unit to stop and block any shots.
A progression for this drill would be that the defending team can try and tackle once the first pass is made. A regression would be that the attackers must be allowed to shoot to see if they score or not.
