SLOW DOWN
As you approach your opponent, SLOW DOWN.
Coaching Points:
Slow down. If you don't slow down there's a risk that your opponent can skip past you and you'd be left behind, chasing back.
Delay the attack.
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
STAND UP
Stay on your feet. Do not dive in.
Coaching Points:
Don't dive in. If you slide in and your opponent beats you, you're on the floor and out of the game. It's much harder to recover from here.
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
SIDEWAYS
Get SIDEWAYS on.
Coaching Points:
By getting sideways you're in a much better position to react and adjust and turn in case your opponent beats you.

SAFETY
Always protect your goal and try to force your opponent away from your goal.
Coaching Points:
Always make sure you are positioned directly between the ball and your goal.
Use your positioning to dictate where your attacker goes. Preferably away from your goal.

SHUT DOWN
As the attacker dribbles towards you and your goal, SHUT DOWN the space.
Coaching Points:
Deny your opponent space by shutting him down quickly.
