Set Up: Half field at Pine Glen, with a 15*15 grid near the center circle and wide channels using the touchline and the outside of the GK box. Supply of balls in the center circle. Mini goals at center - in either channel.
Players: 9-10 depending on numbers (can have two set ups).
Description: 3v1 rondo to start the exercise (inside the smaller grid). After 3 or 4 passes, ball is played out to the 7 or 11, who then looks to cross the ball in. Play then becomes a 5v3 to goal (ball must be crossed from the channel). Defenders can win the ball and score on either of the mini goals.
Progressions:
Give players specific combinations to run through (up, back, through/allow central player to overlap the winger).
Restrict touches in the rondo.
Make the wingers opposed.
Allow a FB to come in on the ball side of the field.
Key Factors:
Quick combination play centrally to get the ball wide.
Movement of the wide player (looking for visual cues).
Crossing technique (direction of hips, type of pass, delivery area) - more of a focus with crossing / finishing theme.

Attacking Crosses - Safe Zones (15 mins)
Set Up: Half field at Pine Glen. One large goal and 3 mini goals at the half way line. A 5*5 small grid "safe zone" in each corner - on either side of the large goal. Supply of balls at center. Two set ups.
Players: 8-10 depending on numbers.
Description: Play a regular 4v4 or 4v4+1 game with a GK. Regular rules apply. Main condition is that the "safe zone" can only have an attacking player in it (no defenders). However, the attacker only has 3 touches or 5 seconds to make a decision. Key consists of creating overloads in wide areas (combination play) and making good decisions vis a vis when to cross and when to reset or switch the play. Also focus on the type of crosses. Can progress to having no safe zones. Defenders can score on the mini goals. Switch roles half way.
Key Factors:
Movement of strikers and midfielders (attackers in general) - near/far post, penalty spot.
Type of crosses (low/high).
Finishing from crosses.
Second ball inside/outside the GK box.
Support/cover to FBs from RM/LM depending on the situation - more so for phase of play.
