5v5 Attitude to Shoot (15 mins)

Organisation

Create a grid 40 x 36 yards with two channels each 5 yards running along each side.

Split players into two teams - 8 players per team to include GK's.

If insufficient players, reduce each team to 4v4 + GK's inside the grid and play a single neutral player in the channels.

Instructions

5v5 inside the area plus a player for each team inside each channel, in the teams attacking half.

Teams are looking to possess the ball with the intention of creating passing angles to shoot. The channel players can cross the ball or play to feet in order to maintain possession. Teams do not have to use the channel players. As soon as a good opportunity to shoot arises, players should do so.

Progressions

1. Allow channel players to dribble inside the area in order to create an overload.

Scottish Crossing & Possession (15 mins)

Organisation

Create a pitch split into three zones, each zone 20 x 25 yards, awith a 5 yard channel running alongside each side of the pitch.

Split players into 2 x 5 players plus GK's.

Instructions

Play 3v3 in the middle zone. Place an outside crosser in the attacking half of each channel.

Teams must connect 4 passes in the middle zone before being able to play the ball to an outside crosser for their team.

When the ball is played to the outside crosser, the player who played the ball to the ouside crosser, plus one other, can crash the attacking zone, looking to receive the cross.

If a goal is scored, play restarts in the middle zone. If the defending team obtain possession, they have 10 secs to score in the opposite goal, with all players (including outside players) and all zones included - players can enter any zone. If they fail to score in 10 secs, play restarts in the middle zone.

Two defending players can also enter the zone in order to defend.

Progressions

1. Add a neutral player into the middle zone.

2. Reduce the number of passes required in the middle zone to 3.

3. Allow three atackers plus two defenders to enter the zone.

4. Allow all attackers and defenders to enter the zone.
