Red plays 4v2 against yellow in two of the 15x15 grids. 2 Yellow wait in the adjacent areas. If yellow can win the ball they try to play to the yellow in another grid and then join them to create a 4v2 for yellow. 2 red must immediately transition to win the ball back and try to find 2 red players in another area if they can win it.

Team with ball attempts to maintain possession and spread game out using entire grid. Defending team must get every player in smaller grid that the ball is in. Emphasis on transitional mentality--compating the space when defending and opening the space when in possession. You want many transitional moments so don't focus too much on technique and/or decision making. Just transitional decision making.

4v4 in grid. Players on outside are not allowed to come into grid without the ball and they cannot defend the other player on the outside. If a player on inside plays to player on outside they have to switch and outside player must find another inside player (they cannot pass to another outside player directly). Once again the defensive team must compact the space by getting into the grid where ball is. In effect, the team with the ball is playing 8v4.

Expand area to width of box and midfield line to top of box. Game is now directional with yellow trying to get over reds line and vice versa. If a team gets over the line (can dribble or pass over as long as possession is maintained) they immediately turn and try to attack the opposite line. Note---when a team gets over the line they are not free. The other team can dispossess them at any time. The defensive team must have all but one of their players in the grid with the ball.

8v8 directional game but now if team gets over line they leave the ball and immediately get behind their halfway line. The other team gets a ball from their pile on the endline and establishes an attacking shape (wide defenders, the six staying central, nine creating depth, etc.) When ball is played the defensive team can enter zone and pressure.
Note-- GKs can be used as tarrget players for attacking team. They catch it and then start the attack for their team as well as being an outlet for possession. This game can transition into a full scrimmage by adding a goal at midfield.

Warm-up: 16 players per area (30 x 30)
Dribbling with mental acuity: 1=Rt only; 2=Lt only; 3=Both; 4=Juggle; 5=turn; 6=switch (leave ball and find another). Coach calls out number and players respond immediately. Lots of changes.
Dynamic stretch with ball and partner
Activity 1-- 8 players in grid, 8 outside. Inside players have ball, outside do not. Inside player passes to outsided player (any color) and switches with them. Player must stay connected to the game by turning and running backwards to outside spot, immediately looking to receive a ball from another player. Mandatory 2 touch.
