3v3 +2 (15 mins)

ORGANISATION:

  • 3v2 +2

HOW TO PLAY:

  • Blue (Neutral) try and progress the ball from end to end.
  • Blue and Red start with possession and Yellow defend.
  • Blue get a point if they are able to split Yellow and play through the middle
  • If Yellow win the ball they are to play out to Blue and then swap positions with Red becoming defenders. 

COACHING POINTS:

  • Can we move ball wide to stretch defenders out of 
  • Movement and communication of team in possession is key
  • Attacking player in centre to continually look to sit in space between the two defenders.
  • If we can play through centre of Yellow, can we receive on half turn so we can transition to the other end quickly
  • Ideally passes to furthest foot
  • First touch into space

  • Rotate teams.
  • Limit touches

Playing through the lines (30 mins)

ORGANISATION:

  • Total area should be smaller than full game day field

    The area is split into 4 zones with 3 outfield players in each zone.

    Goals and GK’s at each end, alternatively you can play with small goals at one or both ends if you don’t have GK(s)

HOW TO PLAY:

  • Teams look to play into their attackers in the middle zone who then breakout 4v3 to the goal. 
  • Teams can choose to press with 1 or 2. 
  • If the defending team wins the ball or intercepts in the middle zone they look to attack 4v3 straight aways

COACHING POINTS:

  • Breaking Lines (penetrate | exploit gaps | eliminate opponents)?

  • Attracting Pressure (provoke press | create space behind & between lines).

  • Positioning (stretch opposition | between & behind the opposition | pockets).

  • Finding the Free Man (create & Identify free man | movement to receive).
  • Attack at speed - exploit the overload and create a scoring chance.

 

 

 

 

 

CHANGE IT / PROGRESSIONS:

  • Every pass into middie zone point Every goal - 2 points - count scores.

  • Must make a minimum/maximum # of passes before playing into middle zone.

  • Can oniy press with 1 defender'

Game (30 mins)

ORGANISATION:

  • Half full size pitch length but width of 18yard box to encourage forward play
  • 7v7 - ideally in three lines to simulate full team formation

HOW TO PLAY:

  • Regular game rules

COACHING POINTS:

  • Breaking Lines (penetrate ) exploit gaps eliminate opponents

  • Attracting Pressure (provoke press to create space behind a between lines).

  • Forward players for both teams should attempt to find space between mid and defensive lines to encourage passes through the lines.
  • If Forward receive the ball in this space, supporting midfielders and forward should move at pace and attempt to create an overload and an attempt on goal
  • Positioning (stretch opposition | between & behind the opposition I pockets).

  • Finding the Free Man (create & identity free man movement to receive).

 

 

 

 

 

CHANGE IT / PROGRESSIONS:

  • Make the pitch more narrow to encourage more forward play

  • Make the pitch wider to encourage using with to create gaps.

  • Split the pitch into 3 channels -> assists from a central channel = an extra goal.
