Play 7 red v 7 blue. Red set up gk-3-3. Blues 1-4-2
Start by red gk passing long to to blue defender.
Blues can only score from crosses. Red on winning position can score from open play.
Blue players can not be challenged in wide channels. Blue players do not have to stay in channel
Encourange variety of crosses. Near Post – Ball delivered in fast, relatively low (not hanging) to the early running forward.
Far Post – High hanging ball, to the back of the second 6yrd area for the deep forward or the far outside midfielder to come in and attack.
Cut Back – Ball cut back from the end line at an angle. Usually played on the ground.
Early Cross – Ball played in behind the defense with early delivery to expose the gap between the back line and GK.
Progression: Have red defender enter channel to pressure blue wide player.

Working 1 v 1 oppportunitys in wide areas
Quality of the cross to the correct area.
Timing and line of the attacking runs by the forwards, central midfielder and far midfielder.
Delivery into the second 6yrd area.
First and Second Phase attempts.
Analyze the decision of what type of cross should be delivered.
Head up to assess the open players.
Discuss pace and curve of the ball on deliveries.

SET UP:
Pitch set up as shown. 2 wide channels and a central starting position.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Each team attacks a goal practicing unopposed attacking routines. The coach outlines the type of cross for the team to work on (i.e. Near post, far, cut back. Low, Early, etc). Each attack should have 2 forwards, a midfielder who sits a little deeper, a crosser and the opposite side winger.
The ball is passed wide to one of the flank players .
Dependent on the coaches instruction the flank player then either dribbles or crossesearly .
The ball is crossed in using a particular type of cross. The 2 strikers attack the cross, along with midfielder and also opposite wide player.
Progression add a central defender so wide player has to pick a target
