coaching points
Set up
A 25x15 yards is organized with 3 boxes approximately 8 yards apart. with the 12 participants split in to 3 groups of 4. In the diagram, the blue team is in the middle, and two from that box press the black box. The black team must complete 5 passes successfully before transferring the ball to the yellow team. This will then allow the other two on the blue team to go press. If the ball is lost the team who lost possession will change with the team in the middle.
progression
If the pressing team manages to win the ball back and play into their zone the player who lost the ball must attempt to win the ball back in a 4v1 scenario in 10 seconds. If success the 4 will stay in the middle, if unsuccessful the teams will change over.
regression
allowing 3 players to go into the area and press instead of 2. This will increase the success rate of winning the ball back however if the ball is transitioned the work rate will increase in order to get to the other box quickly.
5 pillar considerations
physical - aggression in press and transition
technical - passing
tactical - decision making
psychological - fitness under fatigue, remain focused
social - communication during the press

Learning objectives of the session
Set up
A 40x45 yards area size with three different channels. Both defensive channels being red and the middle is white. Two teams of 6 with goalkeepers on each team, if no goalkeepers are present the drill will change to a one-touch finish and the outfield players will take a turn in goal.
How the drill works
1. Free play with minimal communication besides what is expected surrounding the learning objectives
Five-pillar considerations
physical - one v one battles
technical - close control under pressure
tactical - choice of a pass in the safe zone
psychological - habit of retreating to the retreat line quickly
social - communication
