Individual recovery run (10 mins)

Organisation:

  • 15x30m pitch, cones at 5m for scoring zone.
  • 2 small goals to score in, Every player has a ball.
  • Play starts when P1 dribbles into scoring zone and shoots.
  • As soon as P1 shoots this is the trigger for P2 to attack the goals, P1 is now the defender.
  • When P2 shoots or loses the ball, this triggers P3. play continues like this.
  • After players turn is over, they collect the ball and return to start point.

Coaching Points:

  • Close the space to the attacker as quickly as possible, press the ball.
  • Force the attacker away from the goal.
  • Good defensive stance.
  • Don't dive in

Recovery runs from midfield (20 mins)

Organisation:

  • Set up on half pitch. Teams in positions above.
  • Defending team has 2 CB's and 3 players making runs back.
  • Attacking team plays 3-1 ( RW-AM-LW & CF)
  • Attacking team attempts to score in goal, if Red team wins the ball they play to waiting Red players.
  • Play starts when AM plays a bounce pass with CF. This triggers recovery runs from defending team.

Coaching Points:

  • Get back into position as quickly as possible.
  • Can CB's delay the play to let players recover positions.
  • Ball must be pressed in dangerous areas. No ball watching.
